We want to focus your attention today on a masterpiece designed by designer Philippe Stark for the Russian oligarch Andrei Melnichenko.
A, with 143 meters, is the largest sailing yacht in the world and stands out for its innovative and visually appealing design, with a focus on being ecological. With a naval design by Dykstra Naval Architects and an external and internal design by Philippe Starck, the sailing yacht A was built on commission by the Nobiskrug shipyard in Germany. Looking at it well it looks like a ship of the future and this is mainly due to the unique shape, made possible by the use of composite steel plates that do not sacrifice strength or fluidity in the name of aesthetics. To ensure maximum privacy and further emphasize the elegant profile, Sailing Yacht A is equipped with metallic silver surfaces that reflect the exterior and windows that seem almost invisible from afar. The metal surfaces cover most of the external areas, so that at a distance, it seems that the whole yacht is more like a closed capsule than a normal yacht. This was the way the Starck designer challenged "conventional aesthetics" and offered guests a truly unique experience. The most interesting feature of the superyacht A are the three carbon fiber masts: they are the tallest independent masts in the world, each of which measures about 100 meters (328 feet) in height from the water level (each mast has sails larger than a football pitch). Defined as one of the largest and most technologically advanced superyachts in the world, it is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system and cutting-edge navigation systems that propel it to a maximum speed of 21 knots.
Unfortunately, her interiors have remained a secret for now, as Melnichenko does not have a good relationship with the media. Nobiskrug states that it has an observation pod in the keel, where guests can admire underwater views through a 30 cm (12 inch) thick glass. We also know that A has a touch-and-go helipad, a beach club in the back and 8 decks. Finally, according to industry rumors, we can say that it has a capacity to host a crew of 54 people, truly impressive.
